That thought never even crossed my mind, but then, I like black with Mapleglo a lot better than white...

I would have done the same mods pretty much, except I would have cut the front of the vintage pickup surround shorter like some mid 60's surrounds and re-drilled the holes to match the current 4003 surrounds. I don't care for the large radius on the current vintage surrounds, or drilling new holes. The guard is a big imrovement as the double hump guard just looks bad anywhere it shows up.

Black guard/TRC looks great on MG with chrome hardware and white binding.

I'll bet! I know how I felt just doing that to my 2004. I. too, like the no-hump pickguard; as it should be.

Joshua, compare the outline of a current 4003 guard with one made before '97, and you'll see what is meant by this in the shape around the bottom side of the control area.
