By the way. How many Rick basses does sir Paul have? Does anybody know?

Supposedly two. This one and a 4004C gifted. Never ever seen a pic of that one though.

He has several. I read here that he has a C64 FG and c64S MG as well as a Glenn Frey signature bass. He does have the first 4004C. However, I don't believe it was in production when he received hs 4004.

There is also a photo of PM with a lefty 4003SPC Blackstar five-string, but I don't know if it was actually given to/purchased by PM or he was just asked to pose with it. I tried to get this shot for my book, but the photographer's agent wants too much money for it's use.

There's also a Wings-era(?) studio pic with a lefty fretless 4001 in the background. Whether he owns it or not I have no idea.

In an interview I did with Keith Smith, Paul's guitar tech, in 2008, I asked (2:10 into the video), "He [Paul] doesn't use that [the Rickenbacker] anymore," and Smith replies, "Eh... studio, still, yeah, it comes out." - Still? - "Yeah, yeah." - The old one... - "Yeah, the one that he cut the horn off and sanded all the finish off, he still uses that." - He uses it to record? - "Yeah, occasionally. Not a lot, but occasionally."

That's right. I have that picture. That is a cool looking bass.

Ilan that was great. You are very lucky to do what you appear to do. Do you know if Paul likes Hockey? The Detroit Red Wings logo on the EPI really surprised me!

Why do I get the feeling that the Red Wings logo has more to do with the "WINGS" imagery than with hockey?

If he has the first 4004 before they were in production, (prototype ?), I wonder how it may vary from the first production ones.

I just finished watching that again. Pauls tech really seems to be an honest and down to earth guy. I found it really interesting how he said that Paul has 5 or 6 different Hofners, but the original is the best sounding one, because of its age maybe?
I play on Fri. evenings with a few friends in an acoustic setting. They are both avid collectors of new and vintage Martins. It is really amazing how you can take 2 identical guitars, play them back to back, and really hear the difference.
The part where he is talking about the uke that George gave Paul is really touching.. I can picture them sitting in Georges garden strumming away.

I wish Pauls 4001 was in that rack, would have been really cool to see it and hear what the tech had to say about it. That is such a cool interview!
