That was great! I am having a setup done on one of my Ric's,and the guy kept raising the action, because of the "rattle" he was getting. I said " No,Dude,it's supposed to do that!" 8)

Ps JB, ideally you should have 2 Ric basses for both string options, right?

And ye shall be known henceforth as "CLANKUS MAXIMUS". I second the nomination!

Funny, Woody - the liberties that some set-up guys take without bothering to find out what your playing style is like; where you prefer your action to be. There's no "One correct way" even though some would argue that point.

On the low-action tip, I specifically lowered mine for the Chris Squire covers, but on 'America' I had it set a little too low. During the runs at the very end, you can hear the D & G-strings choking out pretty bad.

Oh,he's a good guy,he called me to come over and preview what he was doing to get what i wanted. I had swapped bridges on my 2 4004's,so they were of course all out of whack,so he didn't have a good idea where he needed to go. I believe this is the first time he's worked on a RIC bass, too. (fingers crossed!) He is a great drummer, guitarist, and bass player,so hopefully he gets my babies set up right. I will ask Paul and Joey to give them a look in April at the BARC,too.

I guess that sounded like a pretty pointed comment, didn't it... good that your guy is on point with the communication.

I don't know how I missed it the first time, but I just saw that I was nominated for the 'CLANKUS MAXIMUS' award. I'm truly honored, and as the bearer of said title, I will do diligence in assuring that all clanking will be done at it's maximum potential. As long as there's no swimsuit competition, I think I should be a shoe-in.

Guilty! And around my household,my dachsund Jaegar is alternately referred to as "claquitos" (clacky toes). :o
I got my basses back, and they are set up pretty much as before, with semi -low action ( my preference) ,so i'm happy. I don't really go for total clankiness, but the RIC "character" is stil there....

Well,it is a new album, but that song has a deep "kashmir" influence in the main riff.

If you wanna hear the whole track, someone has loaded it on Youtube. (an unfortunate practice, but maybe it will make some people want to purchase the cd,which is excellent)

The band is called 'Squackett' and the song is called 'A Life Within A Day'? I'll see if I can find it.
