If it is just in the chrome you could have the tailpiece replated instead of buying a replacement.

Google chrome platers or electroplaters in your area. Plating should cost far less than a new, or even a used, tailpiece.

Thanks, Darryl. As best as I can see I think it is just a deep scratch in the chrome. Have you taken the tailpiece off the see what is going on underneath?

No I have not. I do not believe it goes thru. I believe it's just in the finish. I can barely feel it with my fingernail and it feels shallow and the finish (shiny clear) has not been broken. I would be very surprised if it goes thru it. Thank you jps.
