Ohh Very Nice!

Looks like a 1982-1983 360 12 B series to me...

In that it has an R tail piece and binding in the slash - at the same time as having Kluson Tuners and Toaster pIckups.

The SN would help narrow it down.

It also could be an early v64 - but I thought that series had no binding on the slash..

I am reposting the pics from the ad here so that we can discuss...

Correct, Brian, no binding on V64 soundhole. But, V64 is 21 fret, as well, and this one is not. For the rest, there's pictures for only 2 B-series in the register, but they do look like this one, and vice versa!

Good luck on your negotiations Jessica.
If you can score a WB with Toasters, in good shape, for under $2k, you got a good deal ! :D :D
And welcome aboard the RRF ....

And by the way, since you're in the Bay Area, you can join the fun at the Bay Area Ric Confluence (BARC) next month.... Saturday April 21st. Show off your new Ric, oogle some other folks nice Rics, join in for a friendly jam and meet and greet fellow Forum members and Ric enthusiasts. See the thread: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=401984&start=195#p748364

still waiting for a reply from the seller :(

the more i look at the pictures, the more it looks like something that would suit me fine. especially if it IS actually from 83, then we'd be the same age! ha!

hmm.. i could swear some guy once said "the waiting is the hardest part".. maybe he liked guitars..

Jessica -- Here is another B series 12 string on Ebay right now... They want $4995 for it which is way way too much...

The price of yours is more market value!

BTW Suzi Arden owned the very first one of these in 1963... and she had no problem playing the 12 strings!

If it really bugs you - just take the octave strings off...

alright, looks like i'm seeing it tonight!! i can't afford it, but hey, it's an investment. doesn't sound like something that would lose its value. i could be a RIC OWNER :D

any recommendations for things i should look for when evaluating in person?

also, i don't have a ric suitable amp at all. i have an orange solid state practice amp that sounds nice with my LP copy, but uhh..hmm..

guess it will have to be acoustic for awhile?

Jessica - a favour get the Serial number (which is on the jack plate where the guitar plugs in) and write it down... If it was made in 1982 it will start with a V, 1983 will start with a W, 1984 will start with a X... etc etc..

It will be two letters and 4 numbers typically in this era... I collect the pictures and that is how I organize them...

I would like to know if it is really a B series.

Oh... and check the neck is straight and that you can easily fret it without straining too much.. It may need a neck adjustment... It should sound OK acoustically as it is a hollowbody guitar with X bracing...

Welcome, Jessica! :D

There are lots of Ricks in the SF bay area, and quite a few forumites there, too. Check out the Conferences and Confluences section of the RRF, as there is BARC coming up in a few weekends where you can get you fill of RicknessĀ®. 8).

Welcome to the RRF Jessica. That is a good reccomendation form JPS. Go to the BARC and you will most likely have an opportunity to try a good varity of Ricks. Get an idea of which one(s) you want and begin your hunt.

Heh, heh !!!  the RAS is setting in and sounds to me like you are probably half-way there on the purchase of your second Ric !!! But hey, its an investment !!

There are many, many threads here on the RRF of recommendataions of "Ric suitable amps". Just run a search under Vox or Fender or any other amp brand in the right hand top corner search tab on the RRF and you will find lots of details. Also, talking amps with other Ricoholics and testing several out with your Ric, in person, in a jam environment with the volume cranked up decently, would be another great reason for you to attend the upcoming Confluence.

Yes, definitely try to make it to BARC in San Rafael on Sat. Apr. 21, 2012. It's sure to be a good time and if you do pick up that 360/12, you can show it off to all of us! Just be sure to bring a towel to wipe off all of the drool...

Heck I'm coming all the way from Montana, so it should be easy for you! More info (in case you missed it in the Marketplace thread):
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=401984&start=180
That link skips to page 13 where all the real info starts...

Welcome to the RRF, Jessica. I think if you have to ask yourself how do you know you're ready for a Rick, then you probably are.
