ME on the jackplate, making it May '73. I'm considering putting a period correct Rick bridge back on, but I love how this sounds so much I might just leave it as is.
The mod to put on the BAII looks like it is totally reversable (a couple extra holes but they will be covered, but I would keep it as is and enjoy it for a while until you have some history with it then revisit putting an original tailpiece/bridge back on.

And welcome.

You still have the early "A" tuner placement.

Jeff, your full-width inlay 3/73 is a step-child (wow, that wood is lovely). My 4/73 FL is a cousin.

I've noticed the Baddass is sunk into the body, a cavity has been routed for it. Anybody think that will be a problem if I choose to re-fit a Rick bridge?

Cheers

That looks like a BA1 to me. That might be a challenge to return to stock.

Because of the cavity? Any suggestions?

John is right, a BA, not BA II. If it is routed in, the footprint would fit under a normal Rick tailpiece so what I would first attempt would be to remove the plug in the factory rout, then use that wood to cut a plug that would fill the rout for the BA and you should be good.

Thanks guys for all the welcomes and advice... I'm totally sold on Ricks after years of prevaricating on whether I actually need a £1000+ bass and the answer is unequivocally YES...
Loving my '73 MG CB :D
I might need a new 4003 to complement it though

I'm gonna leave it as is for the time being and think about retro-fitting a bridge at a later date...

Right... Now I'm off to have a fondle!

Cheers all

Wow, ME is the first two letters on my jackplate as well but I have the shorter non-full width inlays. I suppose mine missed full width inlays by a very short time frame. :(

I'm thinking your bass my have been equipped with the plated zinc tail piece. At least that is what is on my may of 73 bass.
