BTW, this is one of my favorite hard rock songs of all time. It still pumps me up the same way that it did when I first heard it in the early '70s!

I'M A HIGHWAY STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!!! YEAH!!!

if that song comes on while I am driving I am speeding! cant help it

If I stop you for speeding and this song is cranking from your car stereo, I may just have to let you off with a warning! :D

Can anyone explain how isolating tracks like this is accomplished? I assume it is not off of the master tapes which is the only way I can envision doing it. There are also isolated bass tracks appearing all over youtube and I'm very curious.

Thanks.........

RIP Jon Lord. Over the past several years, I've really been listening to some of the great ORGAN Players (not keyboardists) in early rock music and Jon Lord is one of my favorites. His contribution to Machine Head is impeccable, IMO.

Wasn't that a big Marshall head , maybe even a 200 watt Marshall Major? The distortion is right when he hits the notes, but the sustained sound gets mellow and clean. The neck pickup does that so good !
