Well, I'm not sure that the plexi ones had all of the holes in the same places as the molded ones, so if there are any extra holes, that could be a clue...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I agree; the position of the screw at the tip would most likely not be spaced the same from the nut end of the TRC. I know that the TRC on my former '67 4005WB was about ½" longer than the ones on my two '73 4001s (one current, one former).

Can't speak to 60's TRCs, but the screw holes on my '09 and 80s/90s raised-letter TRCs are spot-on identical to the plexis from my Dec '72 and April '73. Granted, the '72 has a black plexi that either Paul W. fabricated or came from a mid-70s run of black plexi TRCs. But, the holes in the TRC match what appear to be the original holes in the '72 headstock.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

Just got the bass back yesterday after it's Luthier visit - and my mistake - TRC is raised lettering, except for the 'Model 4001' and the 'Made in the USA', which is flat.

Excuse is that I only had the bass for a half day before I dropped it off.......

Will take some pictures at the weekend and post them up. She looks great....even with a standard TRC....
