He always played guitar, perhaps he had a premonition and then there were three?

The guitar he played was a Ric too. There is footage of them live in 72 on some kind of TV special where he is playing either a 360 or 360 12 string while playing bass pedals..then he switches over to the 4001.

He's playing it on the cover of "Genesis Live" with his 4001 behind him.

Wasn't it because he started also playing guitar and got the doubleneck?

The early doubleneck he had was a hybrid of a Ric Bass and Ric guitar "joined" together wasn't it?

The next double neck was again a hybrid - a Ric 12 string and a Microfrets Bass.

That's what they looked like the first time I saw them. 8)

I still have the album (stored away with all my other vinyl collection!) - Probably scratched and very crackly after all the times I played it. A classic album that got me into Genesis (and thankfully Rics!) 8)

Yes I do recall the Ric in the background on it's stand. Mike is stting down playing a 12 string I think. This is when they had all the gear behind the curtains isn't it?

What a band they were back then! And always a good show. I cherish all the times I saw them.
The thing that was always so cool about Mike R was how he came across: never flashy or posing but always playing amazingly good and accurate bass lines and pedals with that look. And the most classic image I have of him live is playing in half dark/half light stage lighting, head tilted back slightly, and his eyes closed. I have quite a few slides of him in this mode. The guy is very much underrated. His acoustic guitar (especially 12-string) is lovely. Good vocals and great writing skills.
Extraordinary musician.

Cool! I just got Genesis Live off of iTunes last night.... my picture not so big... Thanks

What a great album. I am only a week into Genesis and I am really into the early PG era. Who woulda thunk it.

The times I saw them without Peter, they had Bill Bruford twice, and Chester Thompson the last time I saw them.

My first Genesis concert was for the Wind & Wuthering tour. So I never had the chance to see them with Gabriel.

And I do have to say that I really liked And Then There Were Three and Duke as well quite a lot. In fact, I'll listen to
them before I listed to The Lamb. To me The Lamb is my least favorite release of the Gabriel era!
