That's the best advice I have read on this thread, so far.

Sounds like you're really fond of your sixer, so keep it and buy it a twelve string companion. Then you're covered sound-wise and you can always get your money back if you
must sell someday.

I agree with Kira.
Additionally: To buy a used 12 string allows to sell it with nearly no loss (if even).
That is so great about Rickenbackers: The prices of used ones are very stable. Used Rickenbackers in a good condition can absorb a lot of money - but they never destroy it!

While the neck width between the 6s and the 12s isn't much different, IMO, the headstock is the biggest headache. Getting 12 machine heads on a (regular) Ric 6 string headstock, is going to be iffy. It would be cdrowded to say the least, and I'm not even sure you'd be able to decently fit 12, bottom loading tuning machines, and a 6-string Ric headstock. You'd either have to graft on a headstock extension (or replace it with a 12-string headstock) to make more room, or modify the headstock, by cutting slots in it to fit 6, side loaded tuning machines (in other words, turn it into a variation of a Ric 12-string headstock). It's probably more hassle than it's worth.

Greetings followers of the great Ric
I'm definitely keeping the 330/6 ... I've had it for just over a year and we're pretty much used to each other and settling in nicely.
I'm hankering for a 12 though .... no reason other than a 12 would be just the medicine to transform me from a lowly mediocre guitarist to a mediocre guitarist with extra jangle (delusional???? Who ME???)
I'm not seriously looking to buy one for a while though but it's fun to window shop and search online ... costs nothing too
I haven't decided on a model when/if THE DAY ever arrived but I like the idea of a wider neck a la 660/12 ... and it's not really that wide ... my other guitars have very similar neck widths so I think I'd feel at home. Having said that, maybe a 330/12? (I'm not a huge fan of the rounded 360's)
Decisions, decisions.... woe is me....
