IIRC, the Fender Blues Deluxe is supposed to be like a '57 Tweed Deluxe but with modern (90s) appointments and more versatility.Medicus1963 wrote:I like the clean sound i can get from the Fender and i think it is not very far from the Fender Amp that John uses in the early Hamburg days.
Good luck with the guitar and amp hunt. There are lots of good suggestions, but don't rule out the Fender Deluxe Reverb either. It's extremely versatile, sounds great with any style of music and gets good breakup when turned up. Best of all, it's small enough for home use, based on my own experiences. I'd love an AC-30, a Super Reverb or a vintage piggyback Fender, but any of those are heavy and too loud and powerful for home use. Next amp I get will probably be a Princeton Reverb.
