...what to do with it ? ..play it..
and you could just start with Mike's PU configuration.

I'm trying to decide between converting a 1991 350JG into either a version of Mike Campbell's 350 or a replica of the turquoise Jackson Browne Limited Edition prototype that's in the Rickenbacker museum.
Anyone have a personal preference?
I thought the Jackson Brown prototype was a 620/660 body shape, not a 350 shape.

Myself I would plug it in and play it!

Ref the special 350 that Ben had at the side room at the NAMM booth, it has a gorgeous Caribbean Rosewood fretboard and having gotten to hold it, IMO the neck felt like it was the same width as a 660 neck (I have both 650-A and 660-12 models of my own to compare in my mind). But the neck on this special edition felt "flatter" on the curve than the typical 660 necks that I'm familar with.
This special one definitely had some sanding or CNCing done to it, to reduce some of the mass of the neck, while maintaining the width of the 660 style neck.

Didn't Ben say the neck's 1.74 at the nut? Isn't that similar or at least very close to the 660?

Pretty close.
My 660-12TP is 1.77" at the nut.

The body shape is like 610/620/660 without the rounded edges, but it is as thick as the 350. It also has a glue-in neck that is mounted like the 330/350, not a neck-through like the 610/620/660.

That's surprising; Collin said the neck was akin to an R8 Les Paul (i.e., quite sizeable).

The neck is quite unique. Working from Mike's original guitar, we had to completely reprogram the contour cutting as it is not like anything else we make. Both Mike and Tom really like the profile, which is why we were commissioned to make the "backups" a few months ago to be just like the original.
My guess is that when we made it so many years ago, it was shaped and sanded by hand to come to this final shape, probably at his request. Unfortunately, I only vaguely remember the scenario and someone else here at the shop was the actual go-between on this deal.

John: Will the 350V89 (if that's what we've been calling the 350MC 'til now will be called) be offered through your dealers?

There are no immediate plans to do so and I really don't know what the future will bring on this one.

Duesenberg just came out with a Mike Campbell guitar... of the two this take on the 350 is more interesting, imo. A limited run 350V89 might be an idea. Still, somehow I already see the threads about new owners changing the scratchplate to white, the knobs to vintage black, wiring to 5 knobs, refins... I'm in need of a break from RRF as well, I'm getting grumpy
