He was playing the hell out of it, of course it will sound aggressive. That's the beauty of this bass part and this song. IMO

No offense meant,Chris's aggressive Tone is what first caught my ear when i heard "every little thing" initially, and hooked me for life. It just seems a tad louder than everyone else on this recording.(including Bill!) :)

I used to get that tone on my 4001, using very thin strings (40-90 or even less), a very low action, moderately agressive picking and lots of treble.
There's not much bass when you're there, that's a fact, but it isn't about bass then anymore anyway. Isn't it?
I never used any kind of distortion to achieve this tone.

No offense meant on my part nor taken, Woody. As to being louder than anyone else, well, I AM a player at bass, so I love it.

I just wish bass players, especially Chris, would get more camera time. Unless they also sing the lead, they are almost ignored. I like watching their technique.

Its a long story involving conflicting viewpoints and opinions. Jeff was banned from the forum a few years ago. Nice guy, I've done a few trades with him, he is alive and well over at talkbass under the handle "Ric 5".

I just love this damn pic. Chris' expression is priceless. Fun times... My fave period for the band, the first year and the first LP.

You didn't miss anything Scott. Just been busy playing my newly modded 4003 and tweaking on it to get it the way I want it. I'll hopefully get to posting it here this week.
