What a trip! 8) I never would have thought that Martin would make a double cutaway acoustic! HNGD!

I have seen a photo of a double cutaway from their old Shenandoah series, and from talking with someone at Martin, they have done a few custom double cutaways over the years. So, mine is not unique in that respect, but the customer who did order this guitar, originally, spec'd lots of cool vintage features for it, some of which go back to the early to mid 1800s.

In checking out the Fishman system, I am not impressed at all with the microphone, but the under-saddle pickup sounds fine for what it is.

I bet the combination of mahogany and ebony sounds great!

The guitar has a real, nice sweet tone to it, and is very present and resonant sounding. When I was playing it at the store it has a bit quieter sound to it, probably due to the dead acoustics in the room. Ebony has some influence on the tone but most of it comes from the combination of the Mahogany with the Adi top and braces. The Stauffer pyramid bridge is trés cool looking in person. 8)

I have been playing the Martin everyday! I find something else sweet about it...the smell, it reminds me of the '70s! You know, wink, wink? I think I am now starting to understand the Johns, Simmons' & Williams' thing for smelling guitars...you get high off it.

I am going to inspect the inside of the body for a bag or something. Nah, it must be a combination of the Adirondack spruce and Honduras mahogany, right?

Ah, yeah, man, right. Far out!

Probably what gives it that "mellow" Martin tone.
