Repaired...Well, I was able to straighten the threaded portion, so the rods didn't need shortening. I re-arced the rods, re-taped them, slipped them back into the glued-up neck, and reassembled the instrument. It still looks like a stew, but action is good and it plays and sounds pretty close to a new bass. (I think it would be interesting to do a blind listening test on an old beater like this versus a brand new 4003...) BTW the neck on this one was nice and slim and quite stable.

That went quite fast... this glue/clamp thing doesn't take long to fully settle?

Cyanoacrylate (super glue)...overnight is fine.
I must point out that this whole repair thing happened a couple of months ago; I don't often post in real time.

And the total nerds want to know whether it's methyl 2-cyanoacrylate or ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate (they're really out there if they consider n-butyl or octyl caynoacrylates)...
