Agreed, they are SO much more than that. But people have to start with them somewhere before they find the Gold in the rest of their music.

That's Eddie Trunk from That Metal Show on VH1. He's no fan of what he calls "the Rock&Roll Hall of Shame" due to their ignoring hard rock and heavy metal bands every year. I can't say I blame him, especially given the fact that the R&RHOF also ignores progressive bands....except long after they've been watered down musically.

There are many others I could have listed.
Now some of the groups or artists above I like and some I don't that is my personal taste, but the fact is jazz, bluegrass, country and reggae are not rock and roll they are there own genre. The many blues artists I don't have issue with cause that is where R N' R came from.

I have to disagree.The Beasties were very rocking at their inception, and continued to actually play a lot of the instruments on their recordings. Run DMC introduced an entire generation of new Aerosmith fans , not to mention their first single was called "King of Rock" and lovely miss Wanda Jackson practically helped invent Rock and Roll ,she at least opened the door for females in the rock world. Bob Marley ... roots ROCK reggae .. never lost sight of the fact he was raised on early rock and roll. but I digress , none of this excuses the fact that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is an absolute joke of an institution.I do side with Eddy Trunk

The Sex Pistols (more than likely John Lydon) referred to the Hall as a "p**s stain." That's the term I like to use.
