I hope you get the truss rod issue sorted out because that is one fantastic looking bass. :)

Yep, a cheap grinder will cost you about $30 (and you will use it at least 3 other time in your lifetime!)

I had the same problem with my 2011 4003 and grinding the nut driver fixed the problem perfectly. The grinded driver fits very well on my 4001 basses too.

I've got the same problem on my 2011 Jetglo.

The neck is really thin. Lovely to play.

Cannot get the RIC tool or any other thin walled 1/4" driver in there. There is absolutely no space between the bottom of the hex nut and the bottom of the truss rod cavity Tried to prise them up with a flat screwdriver to no avail. The G side of the neck has a slight bow.

Plus the paint has flaked at the bridge. This is my second RIC 4003, and both have had problems. My 2006 had untold neck problems.. But got rid of that turkey.

I've got to the point that I just don't care anymore, so will have to play it as it is.

£1800 on a bass that you can't adjust.... Laughable!!!!

Sounds to me like something you might want to let the warranty sort out so you aren't dealing with it down the road.

But what would the people at warranty do?, if it was me I'd just get my open ended tool to work.

Evaluate if there is something that can be done at the factory to fix the real problem--the truss rods are nearly inaccessible and it may speak to something deeper going on with them or the neck. I wouldn't want to let it slide.

Certainly, but I feel that the Bass wouldn't get back to the factory, being here in the UK and probably just get adjusted and returned to the owner, getting to know the rods now can only help the user in the future.

Being in the UK and being bought off GG it would go back to them failing them sorting it out it would then be sent to Rosetti.

Unfortunately as I live in the UK, the warranty doesn't apply to me. Got burned on that one with my previous 4003.

Took it back to shop, but they said they couldn't do anything. Advised me to e-mail Rosetti. Again, nothing doing!!

I'll just have to keep my 4003 until it is unplayable. After that, in a display case it goes, then I'll get a Fender P-bass... Spit!!!

I love Rickenbackers, and really don't want to play anything else, but the build quality is variable at best. The warranty is non-existant for anyone outside of the U.S.

Problems with one bass, I can forgive, but on a second one from a different year, no thanks!!!

Mark you have the right in the UK of returning goods that are not of merchantable quality.A years guarantee applies to your bass with the person that sold it to you.Its a common right.I would demand to speak to the manager and wipe the floor with him.furthermore i would take the name and number of the shop and speak to the office at rosetti.
Your warranty lies with the retailer from whom the instrument was originally purchased and any warranty queries should be addressed in the first place to the retailer concerned. Rosetti Ltd will handle any warranty issues only on product that they have imported into the UK. Rosetti LTD offers its products through their authorised retailers, all of whom are situated in the UK.
I would take this imformation to the dealer and ask what is it exactly that he doesnt understand about Warranty.

For myself, I'd like to see a bit more blending for the burst pattern. Personal preference. Great color.

Thanks Scott.

I spoke to the manager of the shop... He was the one who sold it to me. After a half hour conversation with him, I was bored of banging my head against a brick wall. Like talking to yourself, only less interesting!!!

I want to keep this bass. The neck is so, so thin. For that reason alone, it's a keeper.

Looking at the rods, because the neck is so slim, they look like they just about fit into the truss rod cavity. No volute at the headstock either.
Immaculate work, but it has created it's own problems.

I can live with the flaking paint at the bridge. Just cosmetic.

Looks like I will have to take it to a good luthier to get some of the wood removed from the cavity so I can get the tool in there. Won't do it myself. I am NOT GOOD at that sort of thing. I know how to set my bass up etc...

It's still a pain in the ***, though....
