If he only knew...............
He did, 'cause I told him. Instead, he never responded to me and apparently took a low offer and ended the auction early. What a F-tard!

So, was the truss rod not actually broken? It looks like it might be missing the adjustment nut.

Even if it were broken it would be a simple and inexpensive repair that he could have done himself in a short evening's time.

The truss rod was broken. He told me he broke it while trying to adjust one side of the neck.

Well, it seems that all you 4004 guys are right...
I love the humbuckers! They give me the right tone AND they are quiet, as in no hum.
The bass is light and balanced, has clean lines, GREAT sound, and still has the awesome and unique Rickenbacker profile that we all love...
I may look into the VVT mod a little later....I'll get back to ya's on that one.

I think you will like the results! I kept my Cii standard for about 6 monthes, and it is handy to have the 3 distinct tones available with the mini-toggle,but i opted for VVT for a few years, then replaced all of it with higher value push pull pots incorporating coil taps. There was a noticeable brightening of the sound in humbucking mode, plus having the ability to coil tap either 1 or both pickups just gives all sorts of useable options with a few clicks. Again, congrats on the bass!

I think the 4004's are RIC's sleeper model -- although more and more people are waking up to them.
I have been using my cii RBY on my band's latest recording project, and it's definitely opening up my bandmate's (and our producer's) eyes.
And ears . . .
And the "Figuring" on the fretboard . . . don't get me started on that!

I hadn't noticed how clean the tuners mount to the back of the headstock. Looks like a very nice grab!
I have noticed that Cream City tends to have some reasonable prices when they offer Ric basses.
