If it's a '74, shouldn't it also have red dots as fret markers?

Factory documents say NE2280 was a 4001 Mapleglo. It's either real or a pretty good coincidence.

Yes, I agree, several things don't look right, but I do think the binding has a gap at the end of the body. Still a bit hard to tell, but adjusting the brightness and contrast a bit, the binding does appear to stop near the corners of the tailpiece...

Zooming to 400%, the binding does stop.

I've got to say I have NEVER seen a 70s faker with good wood. The maple and bubinga on this one screams Rick to me.
