Maybe a 15th anniversary? Or a 10th anniversary based on 1962/1963? (1972/1973 would fit the time frame of when I saw it.)

I do remember that it was called a "Silver Beatle" and it was an anniversary issue. It was not a brownburst, either, but I can't remember whether it was a silverburst, grey, or whatever. It was beautiful, though. I think it had gold hardware, too.

Darn my infernal old memory!

My 1963 is on pages 112 & 113, and my 1966 is on pages 124 & 125. I'm tickled pink about that. The other nine I have didn't make the cut... Very nice book though and I even got listed on the acknowledgement page. Life is good in Hoffyland!

I checked your Hofs out in the book. Sweet! What type of strings are on them and how does the strap botton on the bottom/downside work with a strap? I have a 1966, also, and a 1969 and 2005 Deluxe. How did you come to own 11?

Nearly all the Hofners are wearing Thomastik Jazz Flats. A perfect marriage. I use the standard 50's style leather straps, some with two strap buttons, some under the fingerboard extension ala Macca. They hang odd when I let them go, but I subconsciously keep it in position apparently! They're not all violin basses either. One is a '59 500/5 "Stu Sutclffe", one is a '62 Model 185 solid, and also an '84 Shorty 187. The rest are various 500/1 violins. The '63 has the tweed case also. Took about 8 years to get them all!

Yikes! So you're into about 24+ basses. What do you do about insuring them?
