About "competing" with Warmoth: Warmoth offers a lot more options than what seems to be available directly from Fender right now -- inlay, binding, peg head finish, fret size/material, radius, lots of body & neck shapes, fret count, etc. -- so I don't think it's going to impact Warmoth too much. Obviously Fender is just testing the waters with this program, and maybe they'll branch-out with more options down the line.

I think this is a pretty good idea, taking advantage of the way their customers often assemble their own instruments.

However, I think the retail stores won't be too happy about this business model.
