I Have to say - I cannot stand Franz Ferdinand but I love their bass player and the way he wields that 3001 of his!

I will add you to my list,George! "Ian's journey" sounds like it would be right at home on a Steve Hackett or Jadis album, and "project x" shows off the clanky Ricbass tone nicely! Great Stuff!
Also,i didn't think of him before, but Pete Trewawas is great in Transatlantic, even if he does have daisies all over his 4000.

Claypool's looks like a '70 or '71 (possibly an early '72?) 4001 20-fretter in "Eggplantglo" (Burgundy). Wonder who's signature on the pickguard?

Alex Liefson maybe???
I read in an old interview with Les, he said that Alex had given him a Rickenbacker bass one time.

His bass work on Dinosaur Jr "You're Living All Over Me" was very unique. It was done on a Gibson Grabber though.

Well I'm a contemporary Ric bassist (although doubtless nobody's favourite!) and this is my band....not happy with the bass tone (or level in the mix if I'm honest) but the engineer was a bassist with slightly different ideas of how I should sound and we didn't have the time or money to fix to my taste (in the scheme of things it's the songs that matter anyway). Of the tracks featured I wrote Head Over Heels, She Smiles and Promised You Tomorrow, played bass and sang backing....

The Burg has John Entwistle's signature and is a skunked '72. Les has said it's his favourite-sounding bass ever. The one Alex gave him was a later 70s one IIRC (white?) which I don't think he was overly taken with.

Gotta be Alan Davey of Gunslinger, also of Psychedelic Warlords. He plays a 1986 4003s and a 2012 4004L. Here's a clip from his days in Hawkwind, playing the 4003s, way back in 1992, filmed by yours truly! Jump straight to 9.40 for pure Ric clank, with a good chunk of overdrive, during Master of the Universe:
