Happy to report that I pulled the trigger today on my first real bass guitar - a 2013 4003 in Fireglo through Troy at Wildwood Guitars. He gave me a price I am very happy with and so far their customer service has been fantastic. I usually have apprehensions buying something site-unseen from another country, but not this time. I feel very confident that they will inspect it again, set it up properly and get it out to me promptly and safely.cjj wrote:Last I heard, the backlog was around 18 months. That means that if you place an order, it might take 18 months to get that specific instrument that was ordered. Now, dealers place orders all the time, so the odds of having to wait 18 months for one are pretty small.
Of course, that depends on where you live and whether you want to do mail order instead of going into a shop and buying in person. There are a lot of dealers in North America (and yes, U.S. dealers can ship to Canada or anywhere in N. or S. America), many have basses in stock or will have an order coming in soon. Check out Pick of the Ricks, Wildwood, or even Musician's Friend. They all seem to have a few in stock. I've bought from all of them and had no problems.
As for the one in the ad you posted, it looks legit, but is a bit over priced for what you can get a brand new one complete with warranty for...
I apologize in advance for any silly questions I may ask in the future.
