Although I do not mind anyone prefering one version over the other, I don't think the Byrds' version is a good example of Rickie 12ers sounding like bells at all, actually. For that I would not chose Robyn's version either, but the song I already named: 'Queen of Eyes', in the live version from "Sex, Food, Death... and Tarantulas" - funny is the intro of that song and that of 'Bells of Rhymney' are quite similar!

I bet So Central Rain would sound great or Pretty Persuasion. You would need to hone your picking skills on the latter though.

The intro to "So. Central Rain" was actually played on a Fender XII, according to our own Mitch Easter. But "Pretty Persuasion" is a great choice, although Peter does some very fast string-skipping arpeggios, so it helps to use heavier strings. I would also recommend "7 Chinese Bros.," "Letter Never Sent," "Maps and Legends," and "Green Grow the Rushes." The chords are easy to learn, and they all sound lovely on a Rick 12.
