Hey Brian, can you tell me the source of those photos? I'd like to use them should I do a second edition of the book. Thanks.

Man, what a flamed beauty that one!

Looks like they used some really nicely figured maple on them.

Their website http://platinum.guitarcenter.com/search ... odId=53348
The SN on this one is 14 13761 so this is not the same bass I posted pics of already.

The pics are of each bass (you can see the SN in the one I posted) - so there are 6 more sets of images still to grab. 7 basses and one just sold...

And if you do a second edition of your book let me know and I will personally hunt down a picture you can use of Geddy Lee playing his 4001. Even If I have to drive over to their management office in Toronto and request one in person. :-)

Is the RIC matte finish smooth to the touch? I have never experienced their matte. Other makers I have touched, seemed a bit rough in texture, and I perceived it may be difficult to polish. Comments?

Ah, thank you for posting that grouping. I see there is one here at Nashville. I'll run over there and check it out.

Seems like my faithful V63 is definitely a keeper! Wow! 3400$ for what really appears to be a V63 reissue 'reissued' !!

Okay guys, here it is! When a LIMITED edition of a "desirable" guitar or bass comes out, it is assumed that it will command a higher price.
Just look at Martin with their limited edition, signature edition models and how they sell them to be instantly collectible. The problem with that is, they make too many and they sit in stores for a good while before making it onto auction sites to be sold rather cheaply.

The difference in this case is that some guys want to be the NEW owner of a desirable instrument which they have lusted for many years. Here's the chance!
Remember, the key word is desirable...

Jim

I saw one in Brookfield, WI. Very beautiful, alluring, and with the price tag, to boot. But as we know, they don't go down in value. Worth jumping on for anyone who can.

Pretty cool! :D I imagine its a RIHS? I realize I'm asking for a lot but I was hoping to see the fret board extend onto the body a bit like the vintage basses. i know, I'm being unrealistic.
