It's more than that. The bass as it hung in the store is worth at least $800 in any event. The only way you find out about truss rods is to adjust them. They either work or they don't. Again, in any event, even if the truss rods were toast, they are easily and comparatively inexpensively replaceable, so it's just a matter of a minor inconvenience to get the bass up and running.

So, my original one-liner stands: adjust the truss rods.
