I want the bass that Chris Squire playsHawkins7 wrote:...I wanted the Bass that Chris Squire played...
I guess I arrived!Hawkins7 wrote:As far as playing, the one song that takes you into the head of Chris Squire is "Heart of the Sunrise" It's truly brilliant writing for the bass.
If you can play that one along with the recording, you've arrived!
Yep, in late 1971 I was a high school freshman, in a study group with a cute girl named Carol, who happened to look quite nice in miniskirts. The library we studied in had a person behind a desk who would play records for you, and the whole group could sit at these tables together with headphones. We all brought LPs to the group, to listen to while we studied, and this particular week, Carol brought in one of her brother's albums, a thing called "The Yes Album". I loved the music, and was rather fond of Carol too. I got a copy of the album, Carol and I never went anywhere but our separate ways, but that album changed my life! I took my son to see Yes when they came this way back in August...stevebasshead wrote:I want the bass that Chris Squire playsHawkins7 wrote:...I wanted the Bass that Chris Squire played...
And the talent to do it justice. That's where it all falls down, of course...
So, Carol changed your life, eh? Does your wife know about this?squirebass wrote:Yep, in late 1971 I was a high school freshman, in a study group with a cute girl named Carol, who happened to look quite nice in miniskirts. Yikes, now I went and hijacked the thread, sorry!
