I saw some little video doc about him recently on AXS,they kept going back to his home studio/bass room, offering tantalizing peeks of some very interesting basses.
(An original 4000,and an Ampeg "devil" bass were 2 that stood out to me....)

Very cool Mike. It's such a trip to see a utilitarian like Geddy with a 4005 in his live guitar rack.

According to a list of gear used in this show (photo of the list posted on another well-known website where they talk about basses), that particular bass shown in Red Barchetta video is a 1968 Burgundy. I noticed it had the original tailpiece and Toaster pickup. Wonderful!

I also noticed what looked like a lucite tugbar? Very "original" looking!
I reckon that we all tend to arrive at a greater level of "appreciation" for people, places and things as we get older!

Yes it is Sepp's former bass, which he spent a great deal of effort in restoring.... I posted it back in Feb 2014 when it came up for sale out of Denver.

Looks like Geddy has gotten rid of the horseshoe.

Brian,

Yup, she sure does look like my former bass. How many Byrgundyglo 1968's are out there and does Geddy own?? Vincent owns the only other Burgundy 1968 that I've seen. I'll email his bass tech. to ask about the treble pup swap out. When I sold him the instrument, his bass tech questioned the pup and aluminum base plate. I informed him it was unquestionably late 1968 manufactured assembly that has been together since the day it left Rickenbacker. The A or the D string was slightly less powerful than the others. The pole piece, could have used a little more height but it was not long enough to do any noticeable good. Regardless of what has been printed, you can adjust the two inner pole pieces if you are careful. The windings are in close proximity but they do offer a little adjustment room if careful, unlike the two outer.

I suppose Geddy and Scully wanted a bit more uniformity and power to the basses sound. At least she is front and center but hell, I gigged with her before Geddy!! LOL!!

Great about the double neck seeing the stage. Did he use the guitar neck at all?

I find it VERY interesting, and cool, that he tours with these vintage and valuable basses instead of locking them up in a vault.

The 12-string neck is akin to a 660/12, width-wise.
I remember that doubleneck as well. I also remember a pretty long thread here about it's restoration (unless it was on another forum...) It was indeed a basket case. IIRC it had a headless neck on the 6 string with the tuners randomly mounted on the body when Dave got it. It was HIDEOUS and Dale did a brilliant restoration on it. I think he made 2 necks for it; a 6 and a 12 string.

Cool to see Geddy snapping up 3 forum instruments and also cool that he's actually touring with them.
