I've had a set of the old Maxima's for around 7 years now. They have been installed on 3 different Ricks,and seem to retain an eveness of tone string to string,even after all this time. I keep hoping they don't break when i change them,because they sound so good.
The new Labella low tension flexible flats are the best thing i've personally used besides the old Maximas. (not that they are exactly like them,the labellas are SS),but they are really good sounding strings with a similar feel,tension wise.
