And yes, I agree that "thumbrest" is not the preferred nomenclature. That's why I use "Plexiglass thingie" to refer to it precisely...
Well that is a valid techinal term for a lot of things, just like the word fru-fru is for any kind of decorative element that has no formal name that comes to mind, immediately!
