No idea how they compare to the coppers right now -- I will soon thanks to Scott Pope generously sending me some to try -- but I played the gospel set again today and I would say more than anything, the way these sound in a mix is like good low tension flats with more presence and that rumbling, slinky growl you only get with rounds.

Yes, I was quite pleased with the white tapes when I played them at the last gig. Exactly as you describe - that growly rumble that really locks in with a good drummer, but still has the definition so pitch center is not lost, and provides the proper link to the upper voices.
