The neck PU on my 75 has more output than the bridge, probably due to the cap. But I like that the two PUPs have such different tones. It's not hard to bump the amp up a bit and dial back the neck volume.

As long as you are happy with the tone of your bass that is all that matters.

It is the various combinations working together that creates the magic (I suppose how well we play does contribute a bit, too

).

I bought a Rick because I was told they play all by themselves!

You were told wrong; they play well together in groups, that's why we need more than one!
