I never thought I'd get old enough to hear someone say FB is for old people.

The RRF has been and always will be the the place for the best information.
Lots of Facebook groups and pages to look at out there.

Oh yes, fb has fallen out of favor with the millenials ever since 50+'s took it over, over the last 5 years. Event pages for local classic rock cover band shows are some of the saddest stuff I see. 20 people publicly posting either they can't go because of (insert ailment) or hey there (insert friend's name) how have you been! Haven't seen you since 1982! Sorry I can't make it, (insert friend's ailment). Even others just admit they're lame and don't go out after 6pm. When I get like that please shoot me.

I don't quite understand,if you're a milleniumalist,and you're not friends with the old farts on FB,why would you ever see their/they're/there posts anyway?
Plus,i'm friends with several people in that younger age bracket,and most of the things they post scare the bejeebus outta me.......

This forum has, and will always, be the real source of information for Rickenbacker instruments. Nothing else comes close and probably never will. Facebook is to look at the photo's and have people say (usually) nice things but the RRF is information and an education!

Much has been discussed here over the last 15 years and some would say there's very little of content now left to discuss. That's a natural cycle, especially for some of us who have been here during that duration, but hopefully many will still continue to discuss occasional new topics, and revisit old alike for many years to come.

One thing I've noticed on the RRF - the noise ratio has increased. Some time ago, you'd ask question and get comments from very credentialed folks. IE you'd ask about a model or instrument and someone who owned that and had first hand experience would comment. Now it seems there are a lot of comments from 'heavy readers' - i.e. no first hand experience but a bunch of acquired knowledge from reading (as well as more peanut gallery comments). Its not the same and bad info gets reenforced and introduced.... Not sure if this is part of the natural cycle too. But I miss the experts and miss their credentialed experience comments. Very few with direct experiences with the old instruments and those folks don't really comment anymore... I assume its due to the noise.

Thanks for your most interesting observations and comments. Within a few years we will have been here for 20 years. We actually started with newsgroups before this forum so our presence and contributing members has spanned two decades really. I think we need to ask ourselves what kind of changes take place during middle age when one considers health, the financial market, changing family needs, death and yes dare I mention the R word - retirement! We adjust and often change our priorities and interests. Age has had the greatest impact in my view and has taken late 30 somethings to nearly 60 years of age. So times change. I certainly would not have imagined that the RRF would have lasted this long. Thanks to all your fine efforts in keeping this going. We presently have a database of more that 25,000 Rickenbackers worldwide.

I am quite grateful to the RRF. I recently joined up but have been lurking in the background for a long time. Back when this all started I was married with 2 young children and working long hours. Situations and priorities have a way of changing and yet some things still remain as they were. Now I'm in my early 60's and divorced. My kids are now adults and I am disabled and no longer able to work. The one thing that remains the same is my love for music and obviously Rickenbacker instruments. My plan is to help when I can and also seek advice when needed. Whatever questions that I may have I'm sure will be answered by somebody here. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
