I've had many Ricks also and like the 70's 4001's and 80's 4003's (4001's also) but then again i like all Rick basses, haha! The early 80's 4003's are pretty much 4001's with a different truss rod system. My 85 4003FL has a very nice neck, thinner than some 4001's I've had, sounds very similar to a 4001 also but a little louder and more robust.
