Change of plans - removed the tape again because it wasn't really sticking right. This time it'll stay off.

I just got the 330 back from the shop today - the tape adhesive (the guy said it would be too difficult to get it off without damaging the guard) and replaced solder will always be there to remind me of the time I took apart a perfectly good Ric... :(

Hopefully you guys haven't made worse mistakes before...

Your guy us wrong about the tape residue. Get a can of naphtha and a clean rag. It may take a bit of doing but you can get the pickguard totally clean of the residue.

I use WD-40 to remove adhesive from guards, or just about anything else that gets that sticky residue on it. I follow that with some guitar polish.
