Wow, Joey, congrats!
 :D 8)

I've been wanting one of those since I first saw them. None to be had in these parts so I guess I'll just have to get one on my next trip to the top side of the planet...

so a question - is the neck pickup harness routing on the surface like the 4001/4003s or does it go subterranean (internal) like the 4004s????

I'll be taking a peek under the hood fairly soon. Though I'm pretty sure it's routed like other 4003's.

The neck pickup wire runs through a route just like all current 4003's. The pickups are adjusted just like 4004 pickups, with a small wood screw, which I don't care for. Eventually I'll probably sink machine thread brass bushings into the body where the wood screws go, and replace those with 4-40 screws, which are much smoother, and don't require a lot of downward force to adjust.

Joey!! Congrats on your new S5. I love mine.
How does it compare to your 4004Cii 5?

I found the usual 330k (actually 275k) pots to be to dark with these 14k pickups, so I replaced the pots with push-pull pot with a 500k Bourns, and the rest with 500k CTS pots. The tone caps are now .022uF ERO caps. The tone is a bit clearer now, and the bridge pickup sounds really good, even with the tone rolled all the way back.

I saw that pic on FB. I like the pickguard. I guess yo had to get the pots in that arrangement because of the tapered end.

Well, that was my "black-out period" when it came to music. You mean that kit is more than 30 years old? I don't want to imagine what they make now!
