Would lead have been in the paint since it was 1970? Or was lead just for household paint?

Possibly, but for a chain smoking generation like Squire’s sitting in smoky pubs drinking and eating fish and chips living in a world of filthy cars and factories a bit of paint on a guitar would be the least of their health worries.

That (factory) colour on a Jaguar Xk-E was know as "Primrose Yellow" which is a little wildflower found in the UK.
