Only reason I ask is that if I find the HB1's too dark and would want to throw toasters in it. I think the stock 300k pots harness would do fine for the toasters I think.
I am more into the 4004 for the looks and countoured comfort body. I'm sure it sounds enough like a Ric.

Toasters fit just fine in a 4004, no issues whatsoever. I have done so several times.

You'll want the guitar version. The pickup is the same, the cover is different. The guitar version mounts to the body as it would on a 4004. The bass version mounts to the pickguard.

Ok. Thanks for letting me know this. Wasn’t sure which version would mount correctly on the 4004.

@Isaac: Good options to try! However, having tried 250k/330k/500k/1MEG volume pots with toasters, HiGain, and HB1, I settled on 250k pot and toaster as the best sound for my tastes on a 4003. Not sure it would sound the same on a 4004, but I’m thinking it would work out. I just love the presence of the toasters. The HiGain a snd HB1 sound too deep/veiled in the speakers for me.

But I could try the less expensive experiments you mentioned on a 4004 first before dropping $320 on a new set of toasters.
