Back with a newer and sillier idea:
The 4003ST (as in Torrefied)
Roasted Hard Rock maple planks
Dyed Autumn Burst, possibly 100% Black Dye, Oiled finish para la 4004cii
No hardware changes (yet)

4004 with nice character maple, J-bass pick-up positioning, nice '60's shaped neck, 3-ply laminated neck-through + peghead wings.

Skipping over the korina wings and chambering, the business case you seem to be trying to solve here is that Rickenbacker basses aren't heavy enough for you.

My best sounding Fender-form bass is a solid Black Korina jazz. Sounds better than my vintage reissue Genuine Fender Precision.
So maybe you're right.

Buy an HB-1 and mount it to your existing baseplate in place of the hi-gain bobbin. I did a similar thing using a toaster many moons ago.

Jetglo
70's/80's era big horn body shape (white biding, no gap)
Skinny neck, unbound with dot inlays
Ebony fingerboard (no varnish)
Skinny, flat frets
Single DA truss rod
Black scratchplate
Jazz Bass pickups
Hi Mass bridge (chrome)
Chrome tuners (non reverse)
Mono output
Or reissue the Blackstar but with an unvarnished ebony fingerboard. Either way, I'd be happy.

But Roger had one of his old Ricks refurbished and I think it has Rick pickups on it. Picture in the book.
