I say combine the two. A checker bound, full width inlayed 4004.

I’m in the minority who actually finds the bound bodies more comfortable than the unbound ones, so the body would be uncontoured, like on a 4001/4003. Think the LK.

.495" Neck Pickup siting, which I'm reliably told is right where Fret # 24 would be.
Mahogany necks w/EHRM wings.

How about a guitar made to pretty much the same specs as the 4005XC?
Guitarist in one of my bands would about die if he could get an amber fireglo, CB binding six string matching my 4005XC.

360-12 old style with checkerboard binding, 1 3/4 inch nut, and toasterbuckers.

Jetglo 4004, EBONY fingerboard (Bonus points for lacquered, JH), Jazz Bass control suite.
Even streaked Macassar Ebony might be worth a try.
