RWRP Question?

Neither can be modded to what you want, really.
Re: RWRP Question?
So that narrow channel from the neck pickup isn't shielded , should I get that as well? Also I've been looking into shielding the pickups too, guess it is a common mod for Fender guitarists, this involves non conductive tape wrapped around the coils, thenlumgimfong wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 11:04 pm Also, is the copper tape on the back of the pickguard in contact with at least one pot washer? Like you clamped the pot in place over the tape? If not then you have to find another way to ground the copper tape like run a tape jumper strip from shielding to a pot shell.
Also be sure that the copper tape used has conductive adhesive backing and use a multimeter to check for connectivity between all the pieces of tape.
No need to shield the neck cavity if this a modern HiGain or modern toaster with the grey cable cover.
Final ground test it multimeter conductivity test measured from strings to output jack. Can also do shielding tape to output jack test too just to be sure it is properly grounded.
My 4003 I also converted to toggle/volume/tone control layout. I like the simpler controls!!
the copper foil around around that with a small gap(so treble doesn't get attenuated ), then solder ground wire to the shielding.
Both pickups already have tape, so I can skip that step
Re: RWRP Question?
I just ordered the Nordenbocker, that and adding a bit more shielding should get rid of most, if not all the noise and hum I get. I am curious if a Hi-gains metal bezel would fit around the Nordstrand, to sorta restore that classic look

Re: RWRP Question?
No need to shield the Neck pup cavity or the wire channel from there to control cavity if it is a modern Ric pickup with the grey wire casing.
Just do back of pickguard, control cavity, bridge pup cavity, and connect the bridge pup cavity shielding to control cavity shielding with a strip of shielding like you can see in my pic above.

Awesome, thanks for the helplumgimfong wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:07 pm No need to shield the Neck pup cavity or the wire channel from there to control cavity if it is a modern Ric pickup with the grey wire casing.

Re: RWRP Question?
Do you think copper wire soldered from the bridge pickup cavity to control cavity would work rather than a strip of copper tape over the top?lumgimfong wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:07 pm No need to shield the Neck pup cavity or the wire channel from there to control cavity if it is a modern Ric pickup with the grey wire casing.

Re: RWRP Question?
Mine is like this.
I have a white pickguard for it too. I just like the clear cuz you can see more wood and burst that way.
Don't need jumper ground wires between pots cuz they are contacting the copper shielding on the pickguard.
Two toasters. Gotta raise the bridge toaster height some more.

Re: RWRP Question?
Looks great! No need for those little pieces to go out to the pickguard screws around the neck pick up pocket, but shouldn’t hurt.
