Thanks for the replies...

I managed to remove the glue by scraping very lightly and it now looks fine.

As for the finish on the fretboard...I phoned the dealer where I purchased the bass and he assured me that if it does become a problem with the finish shrinking back from the frets or any peeling or cracking, I am covered with a years warranty in the UK.

Apparantly Rics are brought into the UK by Rosetti and my dealer says they are great people to deal with should any problems arise.

Rosetti is a top notch operation and have a full capability shop to handle warranty repairs when they are (rarely) needed. This is the advantage of buying from an authorized dealership, which in turn is supported by such a long established entity like Rosetti.

In your case, this is a cosmetic issue that will likely sort itself out in another season.

Maybe we should ask Zymol to make a Rickenbacker vintage wax that you can smear all over your guitar with your hand . . . you could play it and wax it at the same time.

For 1400 bucks a can it should play the bass as well as wax it.

Bad part is, the wax doesn't last very long, it gets expensive quickly. Notice they even offer free refills...
