Hey Wim...

I remember daydreaming of a "special order" Rickenbacker bass that utilized the lower bout shape on both sides of the neck... any possibility of materializing that 30 year old daydream in regular old Mapleglo?

No problem.
Very 'Alembic' look
The weird thing is that the upper bout seems smaller that the lower one, though they are the same.

Actually that looks much more like a doublecut Les Paul Junior (or the original 1959-60 Gibson EB-0) than an Alembic.

I think it would look better without the pickgaurd or perhaps a different shaped pickgaurd. Very interesting idea nontheless.

Thanx much, Wim!

Looks as interesting as I remember imagining it would all those years ago! I guess without the "cresting wave" upper bout, the headstock is a bit much... it'd probably do better with a simpler 3000/3001 type headstock.

In that imaginary universe, I'd order one with a mapleglo figured top... no pickguard... and with just one horseshoe pickup. I think I'd really get into a bass like that!
My first bass was a Rickenbacker...
My best bass is a Rickenbacker...
My last bass may very well be a Rickenbacker
