I see Sellers going nuts with their prices, but I don't see many Buyers bellying up to the bar to buy. And I'm not counting those iffy BIN auction enders, I smell a rat there...

I e-mailed the guy with the late 70's 4001 that was described and sold as a '64 ... this is his response ...

************************

jeff,
catalogs do not give proto types in them, try the numbers RB979 this is a
one of a kind update your knowledge!

*************************

Well that sentence gives a new meaning to the phrase "bad syntax" but he confirmed my take on the bass by giving me the serial number ....

RB979 that makes it Feb 1978

And to think he got $2600 for a '78 ...

The question is ... was it a real auction?

in a real auction that bass is worth $750 +/-

Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do when they come for you...
I wonder if emailing the buyer and telling him that would void the auction or violate Ebay rules?

I also e-mailed both and advised the buyer to file a claim as he has been ripped off, I also asked the seller if the person who "appraised" it was blind.
I think White/white is much rarer than white/black, there are a million of those around, and this is really a white/black as it had black trim and a black TRC. I think someone changed the pick guard from black to white.
