77 Fireglo 4001S on Ebay

I had an '82 set neck 4001S. It was over a pound lighter in weight compared to a neck through '97 4003 I have, which was nice. I used it on a clean channel through an Aguilar DB659 tube preamp for blues. It was nothing special in either tone or construction. As far as Ricks go, for me, it's got to be neckthrough.

I have a Rickenbacker bass humbucker that I put in that bass in the treble position for a short while before I sold it. I remember that it both thickened (muddied?) and warmed up the tone quite a bit--not to mention a boost in output. But in the end, it felt a little like putting a horseshoe pickup into a P-bass.

Or like putting a Jazz Bass pickup in a 4003s5?

hey ... that combo kicks butt ... it reduces hum and adds bite ...

Yeah, but you have to eliminate one of the most important parts of a Ric bass to put it in there... the mute.

gee what would I do without a mechanical mute ... gee ... uhhh ... well ... I guess I'll play bass ...

But with 3 pickups I could wire is tri-o-sound send each of the 3 pickups to a seperate amp ...
