Are those splits common?

Yes, stress fractures in the finish occur at the glue joints. And for some reason the Blackstar's seemed to have finish problems, or at least all the ones I've seen.

Found this picture today, so thought I'd share. Black is a really tough color to keep nice. So is the Cream color on the 4001CS, for that matter (color bleed from clothing/guitar stand). Kept a good coat of carnuba wax on both instruments. Didn't have any problems with this Blackstar, #58 from '88. No cracks or checking. Served me well and was able to sell it for what I had into it.

Greg, if you ever get around to parting with that 4002, drop me a line.

I would agree that black is tough to keep looking new. It shows everything.

sooner or later it happens, idiot shill bidder with ZERO feedback bids 4x, one after another, to drive up the market.

good luck Kendall!

Yeah I was going to post something about moron bidders after that happened but I'm trying to be positive about ebay. The bidder is suspect, he registered back in 2003, but all of a sudden bids today on several similiar items trying NOT to be obvious, I'm tempted to bail or throw the ******** flag.

It got my pulse rate up there at the last moment, I'm glad that I decided to sit and watch the last few minutes. The sniper was a heavy metal goth guy, I can it now; Blackstar bass with stickers and studs protruding from the body..

Nice get Kendall! If it isn't going to me, I am glad it is going to someone from the Forum. Hope to see more pics of it once it arrives!
