This may have been covered before....

The horseshoe cover on my V63 is more rounded on the sides than the C64 series covers....is this normal??

Somewhere in these threads John Hall stated that the replacement reisssues were diverted to C series production, so how can they be different?

Same materials, constructed to different specs. At least that's my understanding.

Ok, makes sense now. It was the materials not the actual pick-ups.

Now I have to get a C series since they're different sounding. Image

If only it didn't have that upsidedown headstock.

At the risk of sounding daft, is there ANY way of getting the headstock turned round?
Would Ric do it if you asked them nicely or could a luthier do it?

Not an expert, but I think the answers are no, no and no, respectively.

Not meaning to sound daft either, why would you want to reverse the headstock??

I really don't like that spurting mudpot look...

I have the 1991 4001V63. What was the original pickup vs the reissues. Mine has a split cover for the bridge pick-up and the toaster pick-up for the neck pick-up. I've seen some V63's with the split cover and some without the split cover. Is there any books or web sites devoted to the history throught the years to present on the Rickenbacker instrument company?

I would think all the re-issues would have the re-issue horseshoe which has the split pickup cover.

The V63's came with the toaster, horseshoe pu, and vintage bridge. The shoes on the horseshoe pickup have a gap as the originals did, anything other than that isn't original to the bass. Also the horseshoe pu surround isn't like a standard 4003 rectangle, it's larger and has a different shape. You should visit www.rickbeat.com and look at the models and become familiar with the basses.
