Mike--It's a diversion..I'm waiting for my tax forms to print so I can check them over.
It's amazing how difficult it is to distinguish guitar sounds on recordings. That's what makes the Rick 330/360 12 string guitars so unique. You can pick them out almost anywhere. I have been fooled, though. I thought that the 12 string on the Counting Crows' "Hard Candy" was a Rick. Then I saw the guitar player using a Vox Phantom 12 string on this tune last summer when they were in Denver. It made me wonder...

Jeffrey: What is so interesting about this, is that I did (at least I thought so) go for the jangle and that is why I chose sample 4 as the Model 360.
By the way, thanks for one of the most interesting threads we have had on The Rickenbacker Forum.

Peter: I cut-n-pasted from your post, so as to have the same format for my answers. But your first answer is for a .mps file, not a .mp3.
Jeffrey: Are you saying that my first guess of clip #3 being the 650 was correct?

Correct, Sir Andrew.
Here's #3.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained:
1: 620
2: 360
3: 650
4: Paul
We're hoping for blind pigs and acorns here.

Gee... having correctly picked out the 650, I feel like my work is done! (I'm going to gloat for a while...Ha!)
Must be due to the 3 solid-body/humbucker RICs I own... or, perhaps, the "EAR." (Thanks JW)
Peter: Ahem... It would appear clip #1 AIN'T the Paul.

Professor: Would #2 be the Model 360?

After listening to all the clips on the previous pages, I came up with the exact same answer as Adam (and I didn't peek at his, honest!).... So how are our ears?

Adam and Melissa:
Your Rick IQ's fall into the genius category. You are 100% correct, but you have to give some credit to Sir Andrew for solving 25% of the puzzle.
I think that this would have been alot easier if I would have spent time dialing in each of these guitars' signature tones rather than setting them all the same. Still, I think theres a lesson here...I'm not sure what it is though.

There is a very big lesson to be learned her Jeffrey. The Rickenbacker sound is embeded within the temporal lobes of the listener.
At least I got the Model 360 with the toasters right eventually.
Your sampling technique seemed evenly applied to all of the instruments you recorded and so I consider it a fair test. As well all know, however, many instruments can sound alike depending on many factors. You have proven this with your test.
Without errors, this is no learning. If this is true, I learned A LOT!

I don't know what having a high "Rick I.Q." will really do for me.... My husband just told me to get a life, LOL!
