Oh, please. You people are barely trying!
I would sell my wife and child and give up smoking for my 620/12.
I should perhaps point out that I am divorced, I have visitation rights, and buy all my cigarettes as cheap EU imports.
But it's the principle that counts - right?

My first Ric (Jan. 04, the collection is now six deep and I don't see an end in sight) is a 1980 450-6 JG. My forth purchase was a 1982 620-6 JG. I enjoy playing the 450 much more because the strings are closer to the body, it feels much tighter. I have not gotten use to resting my palm on the bridge for my other Rics yet.
So for now, I love playing the 450 over the 620.

David, can you give me a quick rundown on the major differences between the 450 and 620. Pick of the ricks has a 450 and I'm sort of interested in it.

I'll try to help:
620 vs. 450:
1) Visual stuff:
- Pick guard, inlays, tail piece; binding
2) "mechanical stuff":
- 620: stereo/mono output; adjustable bridge; bridge cover
- 450: mono output; fixed bridge; no bridge cover
3) "physical stuff":
- 620: neck is higher off the body: the strings are off the body where you strum similar to a 330 or 360
- 450: neck is close to the body:
- if you take a "standard" fender pick -> the strings on a 620 are off the body by 80% of the pick length (tip to edge); the strings on a 450 are 30% off the body; the 450 is like a strat -> same string distance off the pickguard, same distance off the pickups....
If you are looking at that fireglo one: I'd buy it. I have a '73 450 and an '80 450 w/ higains and they are awesome. That price is fair (to good) also....

I'm not sure what you mean by "fixed" bridge.

By 'fixed' I mean you can adjust the string height, but not the string saddles. The bridge goes up and down, but there are not individual string saddles - it is fixed. So you can't fine tune the intonation. A Les Paul Jr. or a Danelectro U2 are like this too, or (most) any acoustic. Most all electrics allow for individual string adjustment.
This being said, I've found that all of mine (5) intonate fine...
I can take a close up of a bridge if you want - let me know...
Did you notice there is a 450 on ebay too? MG w/ black pickguard. It has an adjustable bridge for some reason...

Yeah, I saw that one. The bridge on that one doesn't look like it's original. There's what looks like a old mounting hole to the right of the bridge in one of the pics.
Gary, thanks for the pic. I read the thread as well and I think I need to stick with a guitar that has a fully adjustable bridge.
