Evidently, it's quite fashionable for celebrity guitarists to own an old "McGuinn" Rick of one sort or another. Johnny Marr is said to have an old "McGuinn" Rick by way of Phil Manzanera. Andrew Gold is said to have an old "McGuinn" Rick by way of Jeffrey Foskett. .
Many years ago I had the opportunity to visit Andrew Gold in his private recording studio and buy a guitar from him. As he was doing some paperwork he invited me to have a look around his studio. Hanging in the main studio was a Ric370/12-MG with a series of switches installed along the pickguard, near the volume and tone knobs. When I asked him about the guitar, he told me about he had bought it from Foskett who swore to him that McGuinn had owned it - and judging from the way that he described it, it was from the Byrds era.
Just my 2-cents.
